2010 - HandHeld POS - MOBILE

"Control the Present, Predict the Future
..."

Hello Everyone…

2010 Handheld MOBILE

Several months ago, we developed and released a Handheld POS with a wireless printer for table‑side POS.  The one limitation was that you had to remain within the wifi access of the clubhouse.

Today, I’m excited to announce that I just designed a solution to extend the coverage all over the course!  In fact, you can now venture anywhere you can get a 3G or 4G cell phone signal.  Just in time for the 2010 golf season!

 Think of the possibilities:

1.
Beverage Cart:  Prime example:

Golfer:  Hi, I would like a beer.

Cart Operator:  Great!  Hey, you know we now take credit cards out here?

Golfer: Really??  In that case give me a six pack!

2.   Beverage Cart:  Put some pro-shop merchandise on the cart.  Based on the weather and your course, you could sell Balls, Gloves, Umbrella, Sweatshirts, etc. … Merchandise can be charged to a member account or credit card as well as cash.  All tracked real‑time in the shop’s database – increased sales with more control!

3.   Par-3:  You know the drill… Bet $10.  If you hit the green, you get a $20 Pro-Shop gift card.  If you miss the green, you get a $10 Pro-Shop gift card.  No Cash?  No Problem ‑‑ you can use your credit card.

4.   Remote Snack Shop / Kiosk / Driving Range:  Anywhere you do not have connectivity or don’t want to keep a full‑time workstation.  Take the handheld for the day and run real‑time transactions to the clubhouse server all day long.

5.   Trade Shows, community events, parking lot tent sales, mall kiosks, flea markets, golf shows, you name it… if you have 3G cell phone coverage, you can set up a remote wireless POS for sales.  Real‑time inventory and customer management back to the server at the shop.  Real‑time authentication of credit cards with receipts.

OK, the picture doesn’t do it justice… you have to see this thing, it’s great!  There is a credit card swipe at the bottom of the handheld.  The printer can loop on your belt or attach it to the cart somewhere.  No Strings Attached!  Both are run from rechargeable batteries and communicate via Blue Tooth to each other.

Solution 1:  The somewhat faster, and in the long run cheaper, solution is to purchase a mobile broadband router (this one is barely larger than my iPhone) with a broadband cell card.  One drawback is that the router will require AC power.  There are several solutions for this, including a DC to AC power adapter ($55 at Best Buy) that plugs into a cigarette lighter plug.  There are several other solutions for power as well.

Solution 2:  A bit slower (but not much) is to use your iPhone or Blackberry as your 3G cell modem.  The device has to be configured as a wifi router and the handheld above will connect to it and use the data connection.

100% No Strings Attached!  Everything runs off batteries so there is no limit concerning electrical power.

Until Next Time…

Enjoy J
