Hello Everyone…

2010 New Web Site Service

A friend of mine who will remain anonymous is long retired from the club business where he was a club manager for years.  Sharing stories while watching the 3rd round of The Masters and enjoying a glass of wine the other night – a commercial comes on with a couple guys carrying a portrait of Bobby Jones across the fairway.  He points to Jones and simply says “I met him”.  SAY WHAT!  So he tells me of his younger days (circa 1953) working at a new high‑end hotel not far from a famous golf course.

He was a porter at the hotel and was commenting on meeting all ‘the guys’ (Hogan, Jones, Sarazen, Snead, Hagen etc.) who were all staying at the hotel where he was working.  He mentioned how cheap Sam Snead was.  The story goes that Sam waltzed into the hotel with these two huge bags and only tipped him 25 cents for hauling the overweight bags up to his room.  Following the lousy tip, my friend tells his buddy the car valet who apparently got the same treatment for parking Sam’s car.  So the two of them get Sam’s car keys and they stole all his golf balls!

Starting with this newsletter we are working out the details on a new Web Site service.  You may notice some subtle changes in the Club Prophet web site.  (Note - I’m sure there will be some broken links and missing pictures.)  This new web site is something we have been working on for some time.  The idea is to have a web site product (not necessarily a web site hosting service but I’m not ruling that out) that allows you the club guy or gal, to update the website quickly and easily without having to pay a web service company.

Once I figure out the details in both usage and how we offer the product as a service I will get the details out along with a detailed ‘Lesson’ on how to use it.  My thinking is that it will be monthly charge to use the product and if you do need a web expert – you would pay an hourly fee for their time.  I say this because I needed a programmer to do some of the more advanced setup.  But once that was done I now do 99% of the site myself.

In addition to the new web site is a new means of ‘blasting’ emails.  This also will evolve over time so bear with me as I fine tune the process.  This will include auto subscription, opt-out options, easy to manage graphics, etc.

The CPS Web Site Dashboard allows you instant access to control every aspect of your website.  If you are thinking about changing your website, you may want to discuss beta-testing this one with us!

Until Next Time…

Enjoy J
