2011 – Post-Show Comments…

"Control the Present, Predict the Future
..."

Hello Everyone…

2011 – Post-Show Comments

Back in the cold and snowy northeast for a few days following a surprisingly good PGA Merchandise Show.  I thought the attendance was down and we had less people in a smaller floor space that created the illusion of a bigger turnout.  Others disagree.  I don’t believe any stats from Reed expo so the truth may be hard to determine.  But overall the quality was there and we will get many new clients from the show.  It was nice to see a return of the international folks who seemed to skip the show last year.

We were informed by Reed Expo that next year there will be a premium charged for having a spot on ‘The Main Isle’.  So if we want the same booth we have to pay the surcharge.  FYI…this year our 20x20 bare floor space costs about as much as a new car!  Oh… and this is interesting ‘The Main Isle’… apparently there are 4 ‘Main Isles’ – making it nearly impossible to NOT be on ‘The Main Isle’.

We no longer participate in the Vegas show – it’s dead.  We will be at the Industry show (Feb 9-10 Orlando Convention Center booth #1279).  My opinion all shows should be combined into one - but I’m sure there is too much money and too many ego’s to overcome to make that happen.  By the way – we also participate in several regional shows (Pacific Northwest, Denver, and Carolinas off the top of my head).  If there is a show you would like to recommend, please send it our way.

We heard many comments about our new release/upgrade strategy – all of them positive.  Many of our new products were a hit.  Especially the iPhone Tee Time app and the Hand-Held Inventory iStock App that will double as a fully mobile POS later this year.

Our new Food & Beverage software is very hot!  We have really worked hard to bring this up to world-class standards and it’s a fit from Quick Service to Fine Dining.  Including a self-service kiosk for customer orders and an upcoming web-ordering module.  Of course it all integrates in real time with the other CPS modules.  If you have a restaurant and/or snack bar you should have a look.  We can easily do an online web demo for you - just give us a call to schedule (800-793-1872).

Our new interface with Range Servant was also a hit.  We had our software running in the Range Servant booth attached to their new ball dispensing system.  It is a live – Real Time interface between the CPS POS Express and the Ball Dispenser.  The system can use a Bar Code or a RFID Range Card or a Member Card.  I will dedicate an upcoming newsletter to this this when I get caught up.

Credit Card rules (PCI-DSS and PA-DSS) for the most part remain unknown to most merchants and vendors alike (POS Express is PA-DSS Validated).

The Orlando airport remains one of the worst security checkpoints going.

On Saturday I am off for lower latitudes as I visit our Asian office to wait out the rest of this winter weather.  We are doing a lot of new business overseas and I have several site visits on the schedule.  Newsletters will likely be sparse as this trip has a lot of travel involved.  I will make use of our new CPS Facebook page to post some photos along the journey so follow along.

Until Next Time…

Enjoy J
