Just outside of my office, I hear a constant whining and churning of our Gift Card printer. On average, we create 1,000 to 1,500 Gift Cards a day. Interesting little known fact: Most printer jamming failures (this includes Gift Card printers, Photo Id Printers, Fax, Copy Machines, etc.) are caused by the paper or media fed through the machine, not the machine itself. If you are having issues with your printer, try using better paper. We recently switched to a gift card that has the mag stripe under the laminate. This small change made a big difference in output without having to purchase another $5,000 printer. If you are not using Gift Cards at your shop, you need to call us. This is a proven money maker! So now that you have your Gift Cards, let's look at a simple shortcut for issuing multiple cards on the same sale. Let's assume you are having your Opening Day event. The first place winners each get a $100 gift card for your shop. You could run four separate sales initializing a $100 Gift Card on each sale, but a better (read as faster) way to do this is using the Batch Gift Card feature.
From the Sales screen, select to whom you want to sell the Gift Cards. As usual, I will sell to "A Cash Account" for this example. From the Menu area of the Sales screen, click on the Sales menu item and then from the Menu List click on Batch Sales Gift Card.

This will open the screen below. Type in a Holder Name for the Gift Card. I simply use "Opening Day 1st Place Winners". Then enter the Qty (4) and Amount (100). Notice the Total at the bottom reflects $400.00. Next, click on the Submit button.

You will now be prompted to swipe the first of the four cards you will initialize. Grab a new card from the stack of cards you received from CPS with your custom logo on it. Swipe the card with your card reader. As you swipe each card you will see the number populated in the Card Number field and behind the screen you will see the four card records added.

After you process the fourth card, your screen will look like this:

If you made any mistakes, you can delete using the red X buttons. Click OK to continue. The Sales screen will now look like this:

Click Finalize Sale to complete the transaction and the four cards are ready to go. You can repeat this for 2nd place, 3rd place, etc. Want to give the entire field of 100 players each a $10 gift card? You can do that as well using the same method and do all 100 Gift Cards in one transaction.
Enjoy :)
