Executive Reports Dashboard (for real this time!)...


     Last week, I inadvertently put this week's heading on last week's newsletter. The result was that more new people signed up for this newsletter than at any other time. Go figure!

     About 5 years ago, I sent a set of our financials to a trusted friend for review. In less than 30 minutes he replied with a dead-on picture of our business and a challenge to grow the business off of a stalled plateau (which we did but that's another story).

     This exercise gave me an idea that I have had "on the drawing board" here ever since and wanted to pursue but just couldn't get to it - until now. The idea was that if standard financial reports could be analyzed so accurately, with all of the raw data we collect and process in the POS Express product, wouldn't it be interesting if we could produce a series of Executive Reports that allows us to analyze your business in such a manner that we could remotely help to improve your bottom line.

     I mentioned this to a fellow industry colleague, Jim Keegan of Golf Convergence, over lunch at a PGA show awhile back. About a year or so ago, Jim invited Tom and I to dinner in Denver and presented a series of reports to do just that. The result is a series of 15 or so high-level reports that give a quick, concise picture of your operations. Many use color-coded (Green, Yellow, Red) charts to quickly show you "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" as compared to industry standard measures.

     The reports give you a quick and unique insight on how you're doing. Additionally, we added a feature that allows you to email the population that comprises the given report. For example, in the "Customer Retention" report, you can quickly see the list of "defectors" (players you have lost recently) and with a single click of a button, send them all a personalized mail-merged email to encourage them to come back.

     With the busy executive in mind, we chose to use the Internet as the delivery vehicle. This way, you don't have to be at the office to get the information you need -- an Internet connection from any PC will work. While I typically use these newsletters as a vehicle for a lesson, I will take this opportunity to simply get you a sales slick. Future newsletters will include actual samples of insights gained by using this tool against live data.

     These reports give an unobstructed view of your operations. Insights are quick and immediate.
