The existing Time Clock module lets your employees "Clock In" and "Clock Out" by entering their PIN number on the computer. You can also assign employees to a position, set rates, and print out a report with hours worked and amount earned that you can then pass off to your payroll department or service.

     It is a pretty nice, basic Time Clock that is well-suited for a small operation. What it lacked (until now, of course) was a way for your employees to "Clock In" and "Clock Out" without having to access one of the POS or BackOffice CPS workstations. Typically, this is not a big deal for the Golf Professional staff, but what if you want to include the Greens crew? Nothing against the Grass Cutters (vs. the Sweater Folders) but let's face it... those guys and girls can get pretty dirty. Having a dirty, sweaty grass cutter tromping his way in and out of the pro-shop a couple of times a day to "Clock In" and "Clock Out" may not sit well with the uppity clientele that golf can attract.

     So, over the past 6 months, we have been working to develop a low cost, standalone data entry device that will work in a harsh environment.

     You can put one of these devices in the Cart Barn, Maintenance Garage, Employee Locker Room, etc., -- just about anywhere you can run a power cable and an Internet connection.

     The usage is simple. The employee enters their assigned PIN number on the keypad and presses "In" (to Clock In) or "Out" (to Clock Out). The data is sent over the Internet back to the CPS server, just as if the employee would have walked behind the counter and Clocked "In" or "Out" from there. If the Internet connection happens to go down, the clock will continue to operate (as long as you have power) and will store and forward the "Clock In" and "Clock Out" data when the Internet connection is back up.

     The Time Clock module in POS Express takes care of the rest. All the setup and reporting is the same. All you have to do is print out (or email) the Payroll Time Clock Report(s) and send it off to whoever handles your payroll.

     No more standalone time clocks, no paper systems, no hoping the honor system is working and no more grass cutters hanging out in the pro-shop.
