Revenue Per Round

Revenue per round is Golf's version of Miles per Gallon. It is a universal measure against other courses in your area or across the country. Revenue can be further defined to things like golf revenue per round, F&B revenue per round, merchandise revenue per round, etc. In today's lesson I will show you how to set this all up and run the report for your club.

First we need to flag your green fee products so that we can determine what constitutes a round of golf.

Go to Inventory and bring up your Green Fee Products. For Each Green Fee product (that is an actual green fee), select the product and click the Advanced tab. Set the Rounds (18 or 9 holes) and click Save. Repeat for each actual green fee in your database.

Find the new report called "Revenue Per Round Analysis" from Report Options and add it to one of your report tabs (I put mine in On Demand).

You will want to build report templates for the Sale Categories you want to include. So for the golf revenue per round, I set up a Golf Revenue template that includes Green Fees, Carts and Range.

This report is designed to compare year to year numbers, so select the current year and the prior as I have below. Click Display to preview the report.

The result is that the report will sum up the revenue for each month in the years you select and divide it by the total of 18-hole round equivalents and give you a Year-to-Year variance.

Of course based on the templates you define and select, you can analyze how any (or all) revenue categories are affected per round of golf. If you have multiple stores at your facility, you can do this for the enterprise (All Stores) or by individual store.

Now, you want to increase revenue in any segment - see newsletters Getting Back the Lost Players (Part 1 of 2) and Getting Back the Lost Players (Part 2 of 2) for lessons on how to collect contact information from your customers and how to do targeted emails to them to bring them back for more.

BONUS: I am going to provide you with a $10,000 marketing seminar free of charge:

Step 1: Follow the instructions in the above-mentioned newsletters to collect contact information and create and send
            targeted emails.
Step 2: Measure the results from those email campaigns - (Hint: Re-use the ones that work until they no longer work!)
Step 3: For each campaign, measure the number of results (customers that responded) vs. the number of targeted emails
            sent.
Step 4: Your Increased Revenue = Average Revenue per round (see the report above) * Number of responses from Step 3
Step 5: Return to Step 1 to increase the total results for Step 3, which will increase the multiplier in Step 4, which will
increase your revenue that you can share with me!

Note: After one iteration of this loop, you should be able to predict how much more income you can generate based on the number of targeted emails you send (meet the Prophet in Club Prophet Systems). Which is why my Legendary friend Andrew Wood always says, "Those with the biggest email list win".

Enjoy :)
