Until now, the golfer booking online could only book one tee time up to the number of players you allow for that given tee time; but what about when the consumer wants to book several tee times – a small party of say 14 players? The only good option was to call the shop, but with the newly released “Groups” feature, that consumer can now book as many tee times as you permit. You (the operator) can force these times to be consecutive or within a defined maximum variance (i.e., no more than 30 minutes between group times). We will leave the setup to the CPS techs – for now, let’s just take a look at the user experience (UX to the techies).
Note: I am using the new CPS "responsive view" of the online reservations. This is my demo database and I am starting at the “Book a Tee Time” home screen.
Notice the “Groups” button circled in the top right-hand corner above. This appears once the Group Booking feature has been turned on and setup. For the consumer that wants to book more than one tee time, they click on the “Groups” button. This will launch the following wizard that walks the golfer through booking "group" times based on the club operator rules.
In this example, the consumer wants to book a party of 14 players on Sunday morning. Following the circled items above, they have selected 14 players for 18 holes. They want to play in the Morning on 12/25/16 on the Olde Stonewall course. Note that the course operator controls the maximum number of players for booking a party online. Clicking the “Submit” button starts the search for available tee times.
Available times that meet the criteria (and follow the operator's rules) are presented and the consumer is instructed to pick the first of their 4 tee times for their party. The Course Operator, through course specific options, can force consecutive times or allow the group to book around an existing reservation within given parameters. Here, since i have the "force consecutive" option turned on, the consumer selects the 8:30 AM time and the next 3 consecutive times are automatically selected.
Once the consumer clicks on their selected first time, the wizard above will present the consumer with options to select how many players for each time. So for my example, using the “+” and “-“ buttons, I want 2 foursomes and 2 threesomes. For pace of play, I want the 2 threesomes to go off first. Clicking “Next” moves me to the Sign-In screen since I have not signed in yet…
At this point, The consumer is asked to Sign In (or continue as a Guest, depending on the Golf Operator rules).
Just a quick note that back on the Tee Sheet in the shop, you will see the Caution Triangle symbols on the selected times. This is an indication that these times are blocked as there is a current booking in process. Until that consumer Confirms the booking, Cancels the booking, or the online reservation times out, these times cannot be reserved by anyone else.
Back on the web site:
The consumer is presented a summary of the purchase, pricing, ability to add carts, caddies, rental clubs, etc. The consumer can also add the other players' names and setup the pairings. Clicking on the “Reserve” button completes the Reservation.
The consumer is then presented with a receipt, including the confirmation code, which is also emailed to the consumer.
Back on the Club’s Tee Sheet:
Notice that the group is now booked on the Tee Sheet and the player names are entered for you.
FYI: The Mobile Starter app out on the first tee is a great way to collect player names that are missing, player emails, moving players around as needed, etc.
Interested? There is a little bit of setup that can be done with the assistance of one of the CPS techs. Give us a call today and get this ready for your 2017 season.
